MAPLE Module for PLD Systems

The SURFACE MAPLE Target Holder is a specialized system for the gentle laser deposition of organic thin films using Matrix-Assisted Pulsed Laser Evaporation (MAPLE). Unlike conventional PLD, MAPLE enables the deposition of complex organic molecules without damaging their chemical structure. Organic materials are mixed with a volatile, UV-absorbing solvent and frozen using LN2 cryogenic cooling. The laser evaporates the solvent, transporting intact organic molecules toward the substrate. The system allows combined PLD and MAPLE processes in a single experiment, enabling the fabrication of organic–inorganic interfaces and superlattices. Automated fluence control, multi-pocket targets, and precise temperature regulation ensure reproducible and contamination-free thin film growth. MAPLE is ideal for advanced material science, organic electronics, and hybrid thin film research.
