SFAS Flat Array Sodar
The Scintec SFAS Flat Array Sodar is a compact, lightweight acoustic wind profiler designed for measuring wind speed, wind direction, and atmospheric turbulence up to 500 m above ground level. The system operates by transmitting acoustic pulses into the atmosphere and analyzing the Doppler shift of the backscattered signal reflected by temperature inhomogeneities in the air. This proven remote sensing technique enables accurate vertical profiling of wind and turbulence without the need for towers, tethered balloons, or radiosondes.The windRASS option additionally enables combined radio-acoustic wind measurements, ensuring reliable performance under all atmospheric conditions.
